Thursday Music #110
October 30, 2014
Who do you remember as the feasts of All Saints and All Souls draw near? What memories have stayed with you till now? Why are they very dear to you?
Take a few moments to recall the many people who have gone before you and have been part of your life. Surely, they have not only left an impression but more so have left a mark in your heart and enriched your life beyond measure.
Ponder on these thoughts and dwell on the emotions that may arise as you pray with the song, “Pie Jesu” composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber & performed by The Priests.
We may feel the pain once again of losing a loved one or a friend, but we can always take refuge in God’s mercy and love for He takes away our sins and of the world and Who grants us real peace and eternal rest abounding with true joy.
May you have a mercy-filled and peaceful Thursday!
Many thanks to mdragon1801 for the video and to Delson Balance for the reflection.

Sunday Psalm #112

The Commemoration of all the Faithful Departed (A)
November 2, 2014
Our psalm settings in English are by Tinnah M. dela Rosa and Kent Lardizabal.
This is a festival of hope! The ground of our hope is Jesus' promise that he will not lose anyone given to him. There is a condition, however: we must believe in Jesus who is ever faithful to his Father's will. Believing in Jesus means that we too do the will of the Father. Those faithful departed whom we remember this day are not lost - they have believed in Jesus, they have done the will of God, they have gained eternal life. (Cf. Living Liturgy 2011, p. 247)

When do we pray? Do we find ourselves praying more when something good comes, or do we pray only when something bad comes?
For most of us, we pray when we are down, troubled, and in despair. With that, the biggest question we ask God is WHY.
Now, why don't we change that with an Attitude of Gratitude?
We always should thank the Lord for the good things happening. On the contrary, we sometimes forget to acknowledge and instead, question, doubt, and blame Him for whatever problem we might have. It is adding more negativity than putting some positivity.
As we reflect on today's music, 'Thank You' by Katinas, may we grow an appreciative heart which is generous to acknowledge all things, good or bad. Especially the bad. Our problems make us dynamic and make our minds thinking actively. Our problems also strengthen our character and stretch us and give us room to grow in our ability to exercise our faith.
May we show our appreciation to the Lord, even as we are are faced with challenges. Let us thank the Lord Who is in control of our lives.
Many thanks to RIP KING OF POP for the video and to Em Alcantara for the reflection!

I love you, Lord, my strength
Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time (A)
October 26, 2014
Our psalm setting in English is by Tinnah M. dela Rosa and the setting in Filipino is by Migs Miguel.
You can love God with all your heart and soul and you can love your neighbor as yourself (gospel) because God gives you the strength to do so (psalm). You might take time this week to reflect on how this strength has grown in you, and give God thanks. You might also examine where this strength needs to grow, and ask for God's grace. (Cf. Living Liturgy 2011, p. 237)

What troubles you? What frightens you? How does it rob you of joy?
St. Teresa of Avila, whose words inspired this song by Bernadette Farrell, "Let nothing trouble you", puts fear and worry in perspective when she wrote this poem found after her death on a prayer card in her breviary:
Let nothing trouble you,
let nothing frighten you.
All things are passing;
God never changes.
Patience obtains all things.
The one who possesses God lacks nothing;
God alone suffices.
How do these words put fear and worry in perspective for you? Speak to the Lord about your fears and your worries. Ask God for the grace to still your heart and to put your faith in the Lord who is ever constant.
May you have a joyful Thursday! Many thanks to teabiccy for the video!

Give to the Lord glory and honor
Twenty-ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time (A)
October 19, 2014
Our psalm setting in English is by Tinnah M. dela Rosa while the setting in Filipino is by Marc Misael S. Gamil.
When you sing Psalm 96 this Sunday, you will be calling the assembly to give God "glory and honor" by living in such a way that they cooperate with God's plan of salvation. What helps you live in this way? What hinders you? (Cf. Living Liturgy 2011, p. 233)

Marasigan. The refrain for this Sunday's responsorial psalm can be seen as both a promise on God's part and a pledge on your part. Living Liturgy 2011, p. 229) Please click the pictures or the highlighted link to download the high resolution PDF files of our composers. Thursday Music #107
October 2, 2014
Many of us have felt ashamed, faced fear, been downtrodden, and even engulfed in deep despair. However, our sisters and brothers in Iraq and other war-ravaged countries are experiencing far worse problems. How do we make sense of all these acts of violence, hatred, and inhumanity towards fellow human beings? What can we do to help promote peace and love? We can definitely offer heartfelt prayers and we can also be answered prayers for other people in our own ways.
Amidst the darkness, we are called and challenged to be the “light of the world” as Jesus once said. Let us not remain neutral nor indifferent to the sufferings of people. We have to make a stand and live out the famous Latin term “Luceat Lux” or let our light shine, a light that comes from Christ Himself, the Light of the World. Thus, we are called to spread the Good News, especially in dark and terrible times, to all peoples and every land.
As you pray with the song, “We Are” by Kari Jobe, reflect on your experiences of shadows and light. Ponder also on the recent world events and let God’s light guide you on how you can be a beacon of hope, peace and love in our dark & broken world today. And yes, we are truly meant to be more than what we are now, individually and collectively as citizens of this world.
May our prayers this Thursday and everyday reach the devastated areas of Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Ukraine and wherever there is an absence or lack of hope or love. May our prayers touch people's hearts from every nation, race and religion with light of Jesus.
Many thanks to MattStone712 for the video and Delson Balance for the reflection!
