Thursday Music #52
August 29, 2013
When you give, do you do so with your heart open or closed? Do you want to give or love better? Is it time to renew your life?
Speak to the Lord about the areas of your life that feel like a dusty window where little light can shine through. Ask him to give you clarity. Tell God how much you desire to break free from the chains that bind you. Converse with God as you would speak to your friend. And take time to listen to what the Lord has to say.
As you pray with the song, "Renew me" by Avalon, beg the Lord for the grace to 'unbreak' you. Invite God to come into the empty spaces of your life to heal and renew you.
May the Lord give you a renewed heart this Thursday!

Tuesday PraySing #51
August 27, 2013
Our Tuesday PraySing material is the Preface Dialogue from the Gaudium Mass by Tinnah dela Rosa.
The new translation of the Roman Missal uses "it is right and just" to replace "it is right to give Him thanks and praise." The addition of "just" more closely aligns with the Latin original, but more importantly reminds us that as the people who bind ourselves to God, we are correct to give thanks to God who provides all things for us and it is we who are made righteous and share in the righteousness of God. This new wording guides us in deepening our commitment to God and becoming better embodiments of His goodness and love in our world.

Sunday Psalm #51
August 25, 2013
God, in your goodness
Twenty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time (C)
September 1, 2013
The psalm setting for next Sunday is an original composition by Tinnah M. dela Rosa for PraySing Ministry.
This psalm praises God for goodness to the poor and needy. It is those who recognize themselves among the poor and needy who tend to see what God is doing to lift them up. In what ways are you poor and needy? How does God lift you up by inviting you to the banquet of Jesus' Body and Blood? How do you invite others to join you at this banquet? (Cf. Living Liturgy, p. 205)

Thursday Music #51
August 22, 2013
Have you heard of the tremendous struggles and challenges that many people are experiencing in countries such as India, Syria and Egypt and more recently, the Philippines?
In situations like these, you may find yourself asking, “Where is God in all of these catastrophes and cruel experiences? Why does He seem so distant and quiet?”
The song, “Just a Prayer Away” performed by Jaci Velasquez resonates with countless people who suffer and even those among us who have gone through experiences of emptiness, confusion and darkness. As you pray with this beautiful song, let its message of hope, faith, God’s presence and love fill your whole being, and enable you to go back to Him, Who has loved us first. Furthermore, may God’s grace and Spirit move you to be an answered prayer to another person in need.
Indeed, the Lord is just a prayer away. God is present to us no matter what situation we may find ourselves in.
May you never be too far from giving someone a helping hand this “Throwback,” “Giveback” and “Givemore” Thursday!

Tuesday PraySing #50
August 20, 2013
Our PraySing Ministry material this Tuesday is the "Penitential Act (b)" from the Gaudium Mass composed and arranged by Tinnah M. dela Rosa.
The Penitential Rite “functions as a ritual purification of the assembly as it undertakes its corporate worship of God” (Handbook of Liturgical Studies: III The Eucharist, 214). These simple responses remind the priest and congregation that Christ is merciful. This song is an affirmation of praise for Christ’s mercy. These are not to be confused with the more extended examination of conscience.
Provided in the Gaudium Mass songbook and CD are several options available to be sung: the "Penitential Act" (Versions A and B) and "Lord, Have Mercy" (2 Versions - one for cantor-choir and another for choir only).
The Penitential Acts A and B are offered in the form of “call-response” to allow for the priest and/or cantor to sing an initial part and the congregation to respond to this call.
Learn where to get a copy of the Gaudium Mass by checking our Outlets. If you are from the Philippines, you can also have your copy delivered. Learn more about ordering here.

Thursday Music #50
August 15, 2013
How can peace bring about love, pardon, faith, hope, light and joy? Moreover, how can you be an instrument of such an enormous gift?
As you reflect on these questions, there may be more questions than answers that arise, but let it be so. Let the Prayer of St. Francis, guide you and teach you the ways of peace in a manner that only God can bestow upon you, His most beautiful instrument.
As you pray this humbling and astounding prayer of St. Francis, ask also for the intercession of our Blessed Mother, the Queen of Peace, whose Feast of the Assumption we celebrate today, to place us ever more closely with Her Son and receive His peace that transcends our human understanding.
Like Mary and St. Francis, we can become instruments of peace. Let us allow God’s love and plan to unfold and reign in our lives that we may be able to proclaim the greatness of the Lord even in the most unexpected and difficult situations.
May the peace of the Lord carry you to where you are needed most this Thursday!

Lord, come to my aid!
Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time (C)
August 18, 2013
The psalm setting for next Sunday is an original composition by Tinnah M. dela Rosa for PraySing Ministry.
In this psalm you call upon God to "come to my aid." In the context of the readings, this is a cry raised in the face of persecution experienced because you are being faithful to discipleship. When have you found yourself meeting such opposition? What helped you remain faithful? How did God come to your aid? (Cf. Living Liturgy, p. 197)

The queen stands at your right hand
Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
August 15, 2013
In response to our PraySing Ministry subscriber requests, we will depart from our usual sharing of music videos for prayer to post an original responsorial psalm composition for the upcoming Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on August 15. The psalm setting for the Solemnity of the Assumption is an original composition by Tinnah M. dela Rosa for PraySing Ministry.
God's greatness - gifts, goodness, strength, mercy, justice - fills us when we, like Mary, say yes to God's plan of salvation and give birth to the risen Life of the Son through the way we live each day. When we are generous, it is God's gifts shining through us; when we respond to the needs of others, it is God's mercy shining through us; when we are strong in the face of wrong, it is God's justice enacted through us. As you prepare to sing this psalm, recall the times when you imitated Mary and proclaimed the "greatness of the Lord" in your life. Like Mary, may you continue to draw from and lead others to the greatness of God. (Cf. Living Liturgy p. 195)

Sunday Psalm #48
August 4, 2013
Blessed the people the Lord has chosen
Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time (C)
August 11, 2013
The psalm setting for next Sunday is an original composition by Tinnah M. dela Rosa for PraySing Ministry.
As you prepare to sing this psalm, remember that Jesus calls you as cantor to be a faithful and vigilant servant, ever ready for his coming. How does Jesus come to you in the Liturgy of the Word each week? How does he come to you as you prepare to sing the responsorial psalm? How does he come to the assembly as you lead them in singing the psalm? (Living Liturgy, p. 191) Take some time to ponder on these questions.

Thursday Music #48
August 1, 2013
What disturbs your heart at this very moment? What leaves you uneasy or perplexed?
There are many things and concerns that may crowd our mind at this time. Speak to God about these concerns and anxieties. Lift them up to God as you take a moment to rest in the Lord's presence. Allow God's peace to take hold of your strength, to give you courage, and to give you stillness of heart. Invite peace into your heart and into your dwelling place.
As you pray with the song, "Be Still and Know" performed by Rebecca Mizell for Scripture Lullabies, remember that God's peace can be found within you whenever you pause to make room for the Lord.
May you be still and know the peace of God this Thursday!
