Sunday Psalm #147
June 28, 2015
Our eyes are fixed on the Lord Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time (B) July 5, 2015 Our setting in English for next Sunday is by Tinnah M. dela Rosa. Whether you speak the word of God or hear that word spoken by another, you need to keep your eyes fixed firmly on God. Only by doing this can you be faithful to your mission as psalmist. What helps you remain faithful? What helps you keep your eyes focused on God? (Cf. Living Liturgy 2012, p. 167) Please click the pictures or the highlighted link to download the high resolution PDF files of our composers. Thursday Music #131
June 25, 2015
Are we afraid to be weak?
Sometimes, we face challenges where we are called to be courageous. We tend to focus too much on our own strength that we forget to acknowledge a deeper, more perfect strength that raises us up even in the face of our weaknesses.
We think that courage makes a person great. Or perhaps, makes one perfect. God invites us to be courageous enough to allow him to be our strength for he receives that weakness and turns them into strength.
As we reflect and pray with the song, "His strength is perfect" by Steven Curtis Chapman, may we remember that we have a God who carries us when we can't carry on and who draws us into his strength when we are weak. He shows His might by embracing the weak who call upon His name.
Many thanks to TheSarah1412 for the video and Em Alcantara for the reflection!

Sunday Psalm #146
June 21, 2015
I will praise you, Lord
Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time (B)
June 28, 2015
Our settings in English for next Sunday are by Tinnah M. dela Rosa and Pfotokho Kayina.
By singing these verses from Psalm 30, we acknowledge what oftentimes only our faith can see: that death with its contingent weeping and mourning is not the end of the story – life is. It is no wonder that we can sing with such confidence! When you sing this psalm, you embody the confidence of the entire Body of Christ that God saves from death, even when the whole world groans under its threat. Pray this week for those who are facing death in any form – physical, mental, emotional. Pray that you become a vessel of home for them. (Cf. Living Liturgy 2012, p. 163)

Sunday Psalm #145
June 14, 2015
Give thanks to the Lord
Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time (B)
June 21, 2015
Our English setting for next Sunday is by Tinnah M. dela Rosa.
Psalm 107 fits a hymn of praise with a call to praise “Give thanks,” followed by reasons for praise “his love is everlasting." This is a report of God's saving acts which is a cause for praise. God's rescuing activity begins with a description of the people in trouble in verses 23-27, a report that they prayed to the Lord in their distress and God rescued them in verses 28-30, and a call to give thanks in verses 30-31. We may never find ourselves literally caught in a tumultuous storm at sea, but as James Mays points out in his 1994 Psalm commentary, each of us have or will face those times when we need desperately the redeeming hand of God. As you sing this psalm of praise, recall experiences of trouble and how the Lord rescued you. May you bring that sense of joy and thanksgiving as you proclaim this psalm during the eucharist. (Cf. Nancy deClaissé-Walford, Working Preacher)

Sunday Psalm #144
June 7, 2015
Lord, it is good to give thanks to you
Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time (B)
June 14, 2015
Our setting in English is by Tinnah M. dela Rosa while our setting in Filipino is by Dennis N. Marasigan.
In the midst of destruction and despair, God replants the tender shoot of life (first reading). In the silent hours of nighttime sleep, God pursues the growth of the kingdom (gospel). What seeds of growth is God planting in you? What tender shoots is God nurturing? How can you give God thanks this week? (Cf. Living Liturgy 2012, p. 153)
