Thursday Music #135
October 29, 2015
Do we still take time to remember the departed?
It's that once a year again when we commemorate our beloved departed loved ones. But how do we best do it?
One is to pay a visit to their resting place. People flock to cemeteries and spend some time there for prayers. We celebrate in a reflective manner.
We could also offer prayers at church and write down their names so they could be included in Mass intentions.
But most of all, we remember them with hope. And as we reflect, may this song, "With Hope" by Steve Curtis Chapman, assure us of God's promise that we will be united with them in the right time, in His time.
Praying and commemorating our departed is an act of charity. We should keep them in our hearts not only once a year, but always.
Many thanks to KSummers for the video and Em Alcantara for the reflection.

Sunday Psalm #164
October 25, 2015
Lord, this is the people that longs to see
Solemnity of All Saints
November 1, 2015
Our setting in English is by Tinnah M. dela Rosa while our setting in Filipino is by Dennis N. Marasigan.
The saints we honor on this day are those who have heard Jesus, have been faithful to the demands of discipleship, and now rejoice and are glad. These saints are not only those in heaven, they are all of us disciples who are faithful to Jesus. (Cf. Living Liturgy 2012, p. 237) As you prepare to sing this psalm next Sunday, how can you be a more faithful disciple to Jesus?

Sunday Psalm #163
October 18, 2015
The Lord has done great things for us Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time (B) October 25, 2015 Our settings in English are by Tinnah M. dela Rosa and Alejandro D. Consolacion II while our setting in Filipino is by Dennis N. Marasigan. You will have a fuller appreciation of this Sunday's responsorial psalm if you prepare it not only in relation to the first reading and gospel but also in the context of where the church is on the journey of Ordinary Time. In this light one of the "great things" God does is grant you the grace to follow Jesus to the cross. How prepared are you to accept this kind of "great thing"? Do you believe that the weeping it brings will be turned into joy? For what help do you need to ask Jesus? (Cf. Living Liturgy 2012, p. 232) Click the picture or the highlighted link to download the high resolution PDF of our composers. Sunday Psalm #162
October 11, 2015
Lord, let your mercy be on us
Twenty-ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time (B)
October 18, 2015
Our setting in English is by Tinnah M. dela Rosa while our setting in Filipino is by Dennis N. Marasigan.
Several linguistic shifts occur in this responsorial psalm. In the first strophe you tell the assembly that God is trustworthy. In the second strophe you call the assembly to see the eyes of God looking upon those who trust they will be delivered from death. In the third strophe you speak to God in the name of the assembly: "May your kindness, O Lord, be upon us who have put our hope in you." What do these shifts say about the journey of discipleship? How might you express these linguistic shifts in the way you sing the psalm? In the way you live your life? (Cf. Living Liturgy 2012, p. 229)

Sunday Psalm #161
October 4, 2015
Fill us with your love
Twenty-eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time (B)
October 11, 2015
Our settings in English are by Alejandro D. Consolacion II, Tinnah M. dela Rosa and Joey Delos Santos while our setting in Filipino is by Dennis N. Marasigan.
In singing this responsorial psalm you make a dangerous request: you ask God for "wisdom of heart" and this will lead to deeper demands in discipleship. You are, in a sense, the young man in the dospel reading. You are also the disciples who struggle with Jesus' answer. Are you willing to make the request? Are you willing to follow Jesus' answer? (Cf. Living Liturgy 2012, p. 225)
