Sunday Psalm #56
September 29, 2013
If today you hear his voice
Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time (C)
October 6, 2013
The psalm setting for next Sunday is an original composition by Tinnah M. dela Rosa for PraySing Ministry.
In the refrain of this psalm you call the assembly to remain faithful despite setbacks and hardships. Where in your own life do you struggle with these setbacks and hardships? What do you hear God saying to you at these times? What helps you listen and respond with faith? (Cf. Living Liturgy, p. 225)

Do you feel a certain frustration or helplessness about the situation that you are in? What feelings are stirred in you when you read the news about the unrest in Zamboanga, the corruption in government, the violence in Syria and Kenya, and other news on the headline of newspapers?
Mahatma Gandhi writes powerfully: "When I despair, I remember that all through history the ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it - always."
When frustration and helplessness sets in, continue to pray. Today we invite you to continue to pray with us for truth and love to reach the hearts of men and women who are behaving in ways that betray they true dignity and worth as made in God's image and likeness. As you pray with the song, "Be Still and Know" performed by Steven Curtis Chapman, allow the words to comfort you. Ask the Lord to shed his light on those who live or work in conditions that tempt their ability and desire to be persons who are after God's heart.
May honesty, integrity, compassion, peace and justice prevail in our lives this today and every day!

Praise the Lord, my soul!
Twenty-sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time (C)
September 29, 2013
The psalm setting for next Sunday is an original composition by Tinnah M. dela Rosa for PraySing Ministry.
As with last Sunday's psalm, this psalm holds God up as the model of behavior for faithful disciples. The church is called to act on behalf of the poor and suffering just as God does. In singing this psalm you invite the assembly to respond to this call. In what ways are you responding? In what ways do you need to grow in your response? (Cf. Living Liturgy, p. 221)

As our brothers and sisters in Zamboanga still face uncertain times, we invite all of you to continue to pray for peace in our land and in the world.
We offer you two points to pray with: the words from Barbara Kingslover and the song, "If We've Ever Needed You," performed by Casting Crowns. Amidst these troubling times, we hope you can spend a few moments to beg the Lord for peace to prevail.
May you have a peaceful Thursday!

Something new is upon us,
and yet nothing is ever new.
...
We are alive in a fearsome time,
and we have been given new things to fear.
We've been delivered huge blows but also
huge opportunities to reinforce or reinvent our will,
depending on where we look for honor
and how we name our enemies.
The easiest thing is to think of returning the blows.
But there are other things we must think about as well,
other dangers we face.
A careless way of sauntering across the earth
and breaking open its treasures,
a terrible dependency on sucking out the world's
best juices for ourselves—these may also be our enemies.
The changes we dread most may contain our salvation.

Praise the Lord who lifts up the poor
Twenty-fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time (C)
September 22, 2013
The psalm setting for next Sunday is an original composition by Tinnah M. dela Rosa for PraySing Ministry.
In singing this psalm you invite the assembly to praise God for acting on behalf of the poor and oppressed. In doing so you also invite them to imitate God in their own manner of acting. Deeply aware of the tragic cycle of continuing violence around the world, we invite you to join us in praying for peace. Join your hands and bow your head as we offer a prayer for our brothers and sisters in Zamboanga, Philippines who are involved or are caught between the fighting between the MNLF and the Philippine Military and in Syria as uncertainty about the violence continues to prevail.
As we each find our own way through the complex maze of inner feelings, it is useful to know that we are not alone in our struggles or in our hopes. Even as tragedy and suffering have occurred to so many people now and throughout history, there have also been passionate insightful voices calling for peace and healing. Below is an excerpt of a prayer by Sister Joan Chittister, OSB which you may find inspiring.
"Save us from ourselves, save us from the vengeance in our hearts and the acid in our souls. Save us from our desire to hurt as we have been hurt, to punish as we have been punished, to terrorize as we have been terrorized. Give us the strength it takes to listen rather than to judge, to trust rather than to fear, to try again and again to make peace even when peace eludes us. We ask, O God, for the grace to be our best selves. We ask for the vision to be builders of the human community rather than its destroyers. We ask for the humility as a people to understand the fears and hopes of other peoples."
We also invite you to pray with the video of the song "Prayer of St. Francis" performed by Sarah Mclachlan if you find it helpful.
For peace to reign in all hearts, peace must begin with us. May you be an instrument of of God's peace this Thursday and every day!

Sunday Psalm #53
September 8, 2013
I will rise and go to my father
Twenty-fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time (C)
September 15, 2013
The psalm setting for next Sunday is an original composition by Tinnah M. dela Rosa for PraySing Ministry.
When you sing verses from Psalm 51, you must remember that it is a public act of confession for you stand before the assembly and admit sinfulness. But even more importantly, you confess the mercy of God who never spurns a contrite and humbled heart. As you prepare to sing this psalm, what forgiveness might you ask of God? What relenting of sin and pride might you need to do? (Cf. Living Liturgy, p. 213)

What is the best 'thing' that has ever happened to you?
As you pray with the song, "The Best Thing" performed by Avalon, recall the best 'thing' that has ever happened to you. Relish the memory and rejoice in how it has moved you and altered your life for the good. Beg the Lord for the grace of gratitude to fill your senses and your being. Thereafter, speak to the Lord about all that He has done for you and continues to do for you and through you. How does this move you to live? How does this inspire you to love? Spend some time in conversation with the Lord about this.
May your heart be ever grateful for the 'best things' that come your way today!
-----
As our ministry celebrates our first year anniversary, we also recall with gratitude the best 'thing' that has ever happened to us individually and collectively - that is to feel the love of God for us in the most unconditional way and to fall in love with God so truly and deeply. This has given each of us the passion to work for this ministry tirelessly, freely and generously in the hope that we can help others pray and sing to God even for just a moment. We wish to thank the people who have actively helped our ministry on our first year: Alejandro D. Consolacion II, Tinnah dela Rosa, Ken Steven, Christian Yanez, Michael Liberatore, Miel Penalosa, Jaymee Duran, and Delson Balance. Your time and talent have been instrumental in making our ministry what it is today. We thank you deeply.
If you find our posts helpful, please let us know by LIKING and SHARING the post with your friends. Help us make PraySing Ministry reach more people who wish to pray and sing to God. We hope you continue to pray and sing with us for more years to come!

In every age, O Lord
Twenty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time (C)
September 8, 2013
The psalm setting for next Sunday is an original composition by Tinnah M. dela Rosa for PraySing Ministry.
The cost of following Christ is immense, but this responsorial psalm reminds us that you can have more than yourself to depend upon: your faithfulness will prosper because God has underwritten your discipleship. Sing with confidence in God and share this confidence with the assembly. (Cf. Living Liturgy, p. 209)
