Thursday Music #34

Take a moment to recall the many experiences you have recently encountered. How do these experiences make you feel? Do you recognize the presence of goodness in these experiences? Would you consider them blessings?
We have a range of experiences from the very good and uplifting to the confusing and disappointing. However, in time and with God's grace, we may see that even the most difficult situation can be a source of learning or even blessing. Such learning may bring a gift of insight and awareness that allows one to say, "Thank you."
No matter where your unique road is leading you, we hope that you can continue to pray in thanksgiving for all that you have been given and continue to receive. Pray for the ability to see goodness in your experiences and find God in all things as you reflect on the song, "You are Good" by Point of Grace.
Have a good Thursday!

What is Jesus' love for you like?
Imagine for a moment your own experience of Jesus' love for you. It is unique and like no other. What is it like? How does Jesus' love make you feel? How does Jesus' love move you?
Is Jesus' love like a river flowing gently through your soul bringing peace and wholeness? Is it like the sunshine falling softly on your face that brings comfort and peace? Is it like a lighthouse when the storms of life appear, a beacon in the distance that is always steady and clear?
As you pray with the song "Jesus' Love is Like A River" by the a capella group Mountain Blue, recall your own experience of how he loves you. Relish the memory and allow it to fill your senses. May God's love for you move you to love as He loves! Happy Thursday!

Tuesday PraySing #32
April 16, 2013
Is there a situation in your life where you feel alone or discouraged? What would help you feel the presence and love of God? Take a few moments to be in the presence of God to pray about this situation.
As expressed in the Apostles' Creed, Jesus experienced suffering and death. But even the power of hell could not contain the love of God in Christ. Through death and resurrection Christ overcame even death itself. This reminds us that nothing can separate us from God except for our own choice. Moreover, there is no situation or circumstance where God cannot be present with us. We all have those times when we feel like we’re “going through hell.” As we pray the Apostle’s Creed, may we be reminded to rely on the presence and love of God no matter where we are and what suffering we experience.
On this Year of Faith, PraySing Ministry is re-posting an excerpt of the Apostles' Creed choral piece from the Gaudium Mass composed by Tinnah dela Rosa for the New Roman Missal. Although this statement of our faith is usually recited, special occasions and feasts call for this prayer to be sung. You may view the music sheet of the melody and listen to more sample music from the Gaudium Mass here. Below is the new text of the new revised Apostles' Creed (changes in bold fonts):

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead ; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen. |

Thursday Music #32
April 11, 2013
The daily grind can be tough and difficult in life's journey. However, we do not travel this path alone. Our loving God walks with us. Sometimes we just have to pause for a while and reflect on what is behind us and what is in front of us to help figure things out and guide us on the road ahead.
As you pray with the song, “Pilgrim’s Theme,” performed by Bukas Palad Music Ministry (Music by Fr. Manoling Francisco, S.J. and lyrics by Fr. Johnny Go, S.J.), try to answer the questions that speak to you and let the answers guide you in discovering your place in God’s grand design.
We pray this day that we all find our place in God’s greater scheme of things for we have a God who meets us where we are, resides in our heart of hearts and always wants what is best for us.
Have the a meaningful journey this Thursday!

R. (2a) I will praise you, Lord, for you have rescued me.
or:
R. Alleluia.
I will extol you, O LORD, for you drew me clear

Is Jesus alive in you? Have you welcomed Him into your heart and life? Ponder on these questions for a moment.
Even though it takes grace, time and effort for our faith and love to grow, it begins with an awareness of God and His presence in our lives: God, who turns death to life, tames chaos into peace, and sets the imprisoned free.
As we celebrate this season of peace, love and new life in Christ, let us ponder and pray with the song, “Bones” performed by Hillsong United, remembering God’s great love for us and allowing the risen Jesus to enter our hearts and lives.
Have a peaceful, joyful and meaningful season of Easter!

Happy Easter! PraySing Ministry shares the melodic line of As We Gather, a song from the Gaudium Mass by Tinnah M. dela Rosa.
As We Gather is a joyful song composed for regular church attendees to sing and is not meant to be simply sung by the choir. It offers a reflection on what the congregation gives thanks for, its desire to be moved by the liturgy toward a community united in the Love, the Word, and the life-giving Body and Blood of Christ. By begging to be filled, stirred, and nourished through the song, the congregation is helped to participate more fully in the liturgy.
This is one of the 43 pieces in the Songbook and 29 tracks in the CD. It is an appropriate song as the congregation gathers and may also be used for communion.
