Operation Rice Bowl is the Lenten solidarity program of the Catholic Relief Services. We join the traditional practices of Lent and pray as a community, fast with those who are hungry, and learn about the joys and challenges in the lives of our brothers and sisters around the world and give concrete assistance to those most in need. For the more current versions of the Operation Rice Bowl, please go to the Catholic Relief Services website.

Bringing Justice to Life Video
One way of bringing justice to life is by engaging Catholic Social
Teaching through Global Solidarity. In partnership with the National
Catholic Educational Association (NCEA), Catholic Relief Services (CRS)
through the Frontiers of Justice offers an experience of global solidarity for a small group of Catholic
high school teachers each summer. In July 2004, six teachers and three organizers gained first-hand knowledge of India as
a developing country. Together they worked to develop strategies to
bring the lessons learned back to their students in the U.S. The six
teachers were Tinnah dela Rosa (Guam), Michaela Ecker (Florida), Jenny
Girard (San Francisco), Katherine Hamm (Washington, DC), Dawn Harrison
(St. Paul Minnesota), and James Monahan (Washington, DC). With them were
Michael Conroy (NCEA), Neal Deles (CRS), and Brian Backe (CRS).
This video was shot in India in 2004, edited and produced in Guam by Tinnah and presented in Philadelphia, USA for the NCEA Teachers' Conference in 2005 by the Frontiers of Justice India 2004 Participants. Perspectives on Evangelizing the Youth Using Music and Dance
You may download the article here or click the picture to download the file. Fernando P. Guillen, Sch.P. writes in the MST Review:
"Ms. Tinnah M. dela Rosa talks about evangelizing the youth through music and dance. In this article, she presents a summary of her thesis "Practical, Inculturated and Integrated Liturgies for the Spiritual Exercises" (2010) at the Asian Institute for Liturgy and Music (AILM). Her article tackles all the aspects of the topic. She does not forget the teaching of the Church (Evangelii Nuntiandi) and the biblical basis of evangelization according to the General Directory for Catechesis. She gives special attention to the Asian and Filipino contexts, using Ecclesia in Asia and Ka-Lakbay. Young people in the Philippines are increasingly using the internet technology, which has led to rising patterns of anxiety and moral decay. However, their longings provide cues for evangelization. The section on music and dance covers the anthropological, biblical, liturgical and spiritual aspects, without forgetting stillness. Finally, the applications to evangelization are given according to three luminous principles, both traditional and modern. The article should be useful, not only to campus ministry apostles, but also to all those in parishes and organizations who are trying to put in practice the 'renewed integral evangelization' adopted by the Second Plenary Council of the Philippines (PCP) II."
